What is truly unique about New York City? Not the museums, not the opera, not even Empire State Building. It’s the people on city streets, a fascinating mix of races, religions, and cultures. We celebrate the people of our city with a special souvenir of New York’s religious and cultural diversity.
To launch the collection, we created a series of small animated films, to be uploaded on YouTube and MySpace. In the process,the animations have taken equal importance to the objects themselves.
An intentional burring of boundaries between image-making and product design, started by the Eameses in the 1950s, renews the argument of what "the product" really is, today.
In 2008, Babel Blocks™ have been featured in Design and the Elastic Mind, an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
