Exhibition tells the story of the Lincoln Brigade, a group of American volunteers who came to defend Republican Spain in its fight against Franco in the 1930s.
We proposed to organize all materials as black-and-white “film strips”, evoking the way this far-away war was once perceived in America. Placed in the role of historical observers, the visitors were able to follow the narrative of the struggle. The large structure in the middle of exhibition hall, “The Ruin”, served as emotional centerpiece of the entire installation. It contained a display of war-time uniforms, and a screen for a specially created documentary.
