An invited exhibition asked contemporary designers “to respond” to historical silver objects from the museum’s collection.
The Nugbox refers to snuff boxes, once a common fashionable accessory. The new object is made of 3D-printed ceramics with a hand-made silver lid, and it offers a different kind of “snuff”.
Porringer, a small silver bowl of the medieval times, is no longer used. We propose a new version of the porringer – now called Pillinger – as a vessel for serving pills and dietary supplements. We envision the Pilinger to become an essential object in daily routines of today’s American familiy.
